IU EAST REACHES CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT FINAL
Flyers cruise to win over SL
ST. LOUIS - Six scored in double figures as the University of Dayton women's basketball team sailed past Saint Louis, 95-68, in both teams' regular season finale. Senior Ally Malott and junior Kelley Austria each scored 17 points to lead the Flyers offensively while junior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova had 10 rebounds. With the win, Dayton finishes the 2014-15 regular season with a 23-5 overall mark and a 14-2 record in Atlantic 10 play while Saint Louis moves to 14-15 on the year and 7-9 in conference action.
V V Spartans grad leads BG
Valley View graduate Zack Denny, now a member of the Bowling Green men's basketball team, led the Falcons to a win over Miami on Saturday. Denny played well for the family and V V friend in attendance at Millett Hall in Oxford, leading BG in scoring and hitting two key 3-pointers in the second half. BG rallied from an 11-point deficit to win 62-57.
Lady Eagles reach finals
The Eaton Lady Eagles lost to Kenton Ridge 51-53 in overtime of the sectional final game. Leading scorers for the Eaton were Liz Tolliver with 15, Julia Titus 11, and Autumn Whirley 10. The Lady Eagles finish the season 21-4.
This past week South went back to basics on defense and it paid dividends in the opening round of the state tournament. It may have been first round jitters but South had problems scoring in the first quarter.
